The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)

Image
Took the family to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and for me it was the most anticipated movie of the summer.  I have been a fan since I discovered them when I was in elementary school.  It was comic books that got me interested in reading, and I became a voracious reader.  Always three to four grades ahead of others in school, but it was the Fantastic Four I read voraciously.  Why was this so popular with me?  It was about a family with super powers.  Reed was Mr. Fantastic, Sue was his wife the Invisible girl, and then there was Ben who was the Thing and a friend of Reed's.  To round it out there was Johnny Sue's brother the human torch, and for a kid with an active imagination The Fantastic Four was the ultimate in superhero's.   A family fighting the bad guys who threatened the earth.  Reed the super intelligent scientist, and Sue the powerful invisible girl who could render force fields and withstand attacks from their ...

Avenger's EndGame (2019)

Okay you've heard by now this movie is doing fantastic business.  The studio has passed the two billion mark worldwide, and it's still growing. I'm also sure you've heard all the spoilers now.  Amazing now that we have to contend with "spoiler" alerts now.  I mean what would Hitchcock of done with "Psycho"?  I remember the campaign back then had people NOT to tell the ending to the people coming out of the theater.  Now you're a tweet away from making that happen. But I digress.  So how is the film?  One word "FUN!" If you're a fan of Marvel, and you've seen most if not all the movies you'll love this film.  I can only imagine the box-set coming out for this.  It would be huge.  Now if you're not a fan then this is not the movie for you.  Clocking in over a little over 3 hours long it certainly does not feel like 3 hours, and that's a good thing.  The filmmakers Anthony Russo , and Joe Russo do an extraor...

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

It's summertime and the movie blockbusters are lining up at your local theaters.  To say that Captain America was a film I've been waiting for is an understatement.  In my youth their was Captain America (cappie for short), then spiderman , the Fantastic Four , Iron Man , and the Hulk .  I was a Marvel child (sorry DC).  I would devour all comic books as soon as I got them.  So when Captain America was announced about two years ago I began counting the days.  Even got my big boy to want to go see it since he loved Iron man. So can you predict where this review will go?  I was not disappointed seeing Cappie and I thought Joe Johnston  direction was well done.  A origin film is hard to do.  There is a lot of back story to cover, and sometimes it's hard to get it all in and be faithful to the comic.  Captain America has no problem there.  Johnston  does extremely well to cover the true origin of Captain America, and stays...

Iron Man - 2008

Ever since hearing about the making of Iron Man I've been interested in what the filmmakers will do with one my favorite Marvel comics superhero. To say that I wasn't disappointed is an understatement. So it was with excitement and a little glee that I saw Iron Man today, and I wasn't disappointed. Directed by Jon Favre , the director who has brought you movies such as Made , Elf , and Zathura: A Space Adventure directed Iron Man. Favre does a great job, and gives his actors some real space to actually act. The screenplay is written by Mark Fergus , Hawk Ostby , Art Marcum and Matt Holloway who give Iron Man some very funny dialogue, and an interesting origin. Iron Man starts off with a bang, and it involves you the audience to invest in the character of Tony Stark who is played by Robert Downey Jr. Downey has fun with the character, and it shows. Downey is a top notch actor, and I hope this propels Downey into more juicer roles. I hear that he is in two other films th...
