Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)

First off I'm a fan of the series, and say what you want about the series it does push the limits of improbability, but then it is mission IMPOSSIBLE!   The latest film is a love letter to the series then & now.  It is also a film which has several stunt set pieces that seem to be the films highlight, and I have no problem with that.

In the latest episode it is a part 2 and finally of the series.  It seems a rogue AI is out to destroy the world and there many people & organizations vying for control of the AI for their own nefarious reasons.   It falls on Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) to make sure that the AI does not succeed, and how he does this is by tricking it that he works for it.  To say the script has a few high hurdles to achieve is an understatement.  Some succeed while others seem to fall flat, but if taken for what the film is and that's pure entertainment it does work.

I did enjoy it and am amazed at some of the visuals.  I did see the film in IMAX.  I treated myself, and I was very captivated by the film.  It's a good end to the series, and yet there is an open door if they ever want to re-open that door.  I hope not, but that's up to the studio.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is a fun film and one that really captivates.  There are some pacing issues to the film, but I sum it up to a lengthy story with some hair raising stunts that Tom Cruise does.  And in both of those sequences it shows our character to be a man of resourcefulness, and nerves of steel.  I hope this ends Mr Cruise's endeavor into doing his own stunts for awhile.  After all we all are getting a lot older, and I don't wish to hear about an accident involving Cruise.  I wish him a long life and a lot more performances in other films in the future.

It's a great date night film.  Escapist for sure, and just plain fun.  The cinematography is outstanding, and the editing is out of this world.  It's truly amazing and should be nominated next year for an academy award.  Also we the audience care about the characters and they are beloved by us, and that's why this film works.

I highly recommend the film.  If you're not an action orientated person then maybe don't, but I do feel that seeing it will make you go "are they crazy".  Mr Cruise does ALL his own stunts and you see it.

The improbability of the plot is insignificant when presented as a whole.  As I said pure escapism & an all around good time.  At 2 hours & 50 minutes the film does fly by, but don't get the large drink.  You're bladder will thank you later.

All in all it's a fun film and one that I appreciated.  It's a summer blockbuster, and love them or hate them their entertaining.

Highly recommended and you'll get your monies worth from this film that is for sure, and if you can see it in IMAX.  The format really works with this film.
